About

Background: The CAPS Learning Center was created by Rand J. Gruen Ph.D., the Executive Director of Westchester Child and Adult Psychological Services (Westchester CAPS). Over the years, Rand has given workshops on a variety of topics including parenting; raising self-directed teens; communication in families; conflict resolution; depression; anxiety; ADHD; executive function; oppositional defiant disorders; and other topics. There are a wide range of challenges that parents face however, and no one person has expertise in all critical areas. With the launch of the CAPS Learning Center, we have opened-up this platform to a wider range of people, topics, and experts.

Our Mission: Mental and physical health and associated societal issues are multi-layered and complicated.  Without training and expertise, it is impossible for many of us to know how to make sense of the information available on any given topic.  We seek to create a sense of community where parents have the opportunity to learn new skills and ask trusted experts questions about topics that are central to their well-being and the well-being of their children and family.

The Process:  The process is simple. Review the workshops available, sign-up for a workshop you want to attend, attend and ask questions, engage and network after the event, … repeat.
